UK Tax Event - 5th March 2015

Welcome to the annual Den Norske Klub tax event with SEB and NBCC on 5 March 2015

Helena Whitmore of SEB will provide us with an annual update on developments in UK tax relevant to the international community,

Over the past year, tax has often been in the headlines. The move towards increased cross border exchange of information is continuing at a rapid pace. Tax authorities around the globe are looking for ways to collect more tax, and individuals as well as companies need to keep up to date with the changing rules. There is no such thing as a universally safe strategy which suits every country, even within a small area of Europe.  Helena will give an overview of some of the changes introduced over the past year which may affect Norwegians in the UK, including exchange of information, changes to the remittance basis, and the introduction of capital gains tax to non-UK residents on the disposal of UK residential property. She will also give some examples of common misunderstandings which may arise in a cross border context.
